The Easton MAV X intermediate set is specifically designed for ages 13-15 and works perfectly for most middle school and early high school catchers. The 16" chest protector and 15.5" leg guards provide appropriate coverage for this age group. If your player is smaller or younger (9-12), consider the youth catcher's gear set. If they're 15+ or have reached full adult size, the adult set may be more appropriate.

However, once a player outgrows the intermediate sizing (typically around age 15-16 or when they reach full adult size), it's time to upgrade to the adult set for proper protection.

Proper maintenance extends gear life: air-dry all components after each use to prevent moisture buildup, odor, and bacteria growth. The removable forehead pad can be hand-washed with mild soap and water, then air-dried completely. Wipe down the helmet shell and Hyperlite mask with a damp cloth. For the chest protector and leg guards, spot-clean with mild soap and water - never machine wash or submerge. The Biodri™ liner works best when kept clean and dry between uses. Store gear in a ventilated area, not in enclosed bags where moisture can't escape.
