Clemson Spineless Okra Seeds from Survival Garden Seeds produce one of the most reliable and widely grown heirloom okra varieties available. Developed at Clemson University and recognized with an All-American Selections award in 1939, this vigorous plant has earned its place as a long-standing favorite among home gardeners.
Plants produce abundant harvests of straight, grooved, dark green pods that are naturally spineless, making harvesting easier and more comfortable. For the best flavor and texture, pods should be picked young and tender, encouraging continued production throughout the growing season.
Well suited for warm climates and summer gardens, Clemson Spineless Okra thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Its dependable productivity and excellent eating quality make it a staple for gardeners who value both performance and classic flavor.
Reliable Heirloom Performance:
- Heavy yields of straight, uniform pods
- Spineless pods for easier harvesting
- Dark green, grooved okra with tender texture
- Proven heirloom variety with decades of success
Why Customers Love Clemson Spineless Okra:
- Trusted heirloom developed at Clemson University
- Award-winning variety with consistent production
- Excellent flavor when harvested young
- Easy-to-harvest spineless pods
- Ideal for gumbo, frying, freezing, and pickling
- Strong, vigorous plants for home gardens
How to Use / How to Grow:
Okra seeds benefit from soaking and/or scarification prior to planting to improve germination. Lightly nick, scratch, or sand the seed coat, or soak seeds in warm water before sowing. Plant seeds in full sun after soil has warmed, spacing plants to allow for strong growth. Harvest pods frequently when they are young and tender to maintain quality and encourage continued production.
