Tylecodon paniculatus, also known as the Butter Tree or botterboom, is native to South Africa and Namibia. T. paniculatus can grow up to 6 feet tall and very thick, making it the biggest of its genus. This succulent thrives in hot dry climates. For optimal germination, plant the seeds ½ inch deep in well draining soil. Keep the soil moist but not soaking wet and keep between 70°F to 80°F for best results. Seeds typically take 10 to 90 days to germinate. Even with optimal conditions, seed germination may be sporadic.
