Excellent for Bonsai
'Jade Dragon' is a rare dwarf selection that is one of the smallest dwarfs of them all. 'Jade Dragon' leafs out the early spring with tiny tightly clustered chartreuse green leaves. As spring progresses, the new growth matures to a rich deep green. Summer chartreuse flushes of growth are even tighter in habit with smaller leaves. Fall colors are bright golden yellow to orange. In 25 years the first grafted 'Jade Dragon' has reached 3 ft in height in an upright dense habit with a 2.5-3 ft canopy toward the top. This is much smaller and much tighter than 'Goshiki kotohime', 'Kotohime', or 'Hupp's Dwarf'. 'Jade Dragon' is the perfect dwarf for containers, fairy gardens, miniature railroad gardens, confier beds, or small spaces in the landscape. It can handle both high heat and cold climates (Zones 5-9).
'Jade Dragon' is the first introduction by our nursery. It was found as a chance seedling and brought to our father by another maple connoisseur. This selection's miniature size, thick truck, ability to manipulate structure, and the ability to make the leaves smaller make 'Jade Dragon' exceptional for bonsai. Bonsai was originally started in China. In China, a jade dragon is a dragon made out of jade that is a memento given at a special occasion such as birthday, wedding, or anniversary. This 'Jade Dragon' was produced from the original.
Trees were potted from large liners to gallons last fall and may not have completely filled out their pots.

History at its best
This comprehensive history of early Virginia persuasively argues that slavery and racism contributed to the American notions of freedom and democracy for those not enslaved. Although first published in 1975, one would never guess that just from reading it. Morgan's argument emerges from such a careful reading and analysis of primary sources that it remains as important today as it was a quarter century ago. The book also provides valuable insights into many subjects other than slavery, including economic and political relations between Virginia and England, early interactions with Native Americans, and changing colonial and British notions of labor and class. Highly recommended on any of these issues.

Fasten your seat belt!
Format: Paperback
The eye-opening journey this non-fiction book offers is not fun, if you are any kind of human being at all. The historical detail and background information is great. The organization makes it easy to understand the complex and entangled events that were happening then and which molded colonial Virginian society, which in turn we inherited. Highest quality scholarship. Dreadful and stomach-turning subject matter. I wish I read this years ago.

Like you have a choice
Format: Hardcover
If you’re buying this, there’s a good choice it’s an assigned text and you have zero choice in the matter. I can say, this one is nowhere near as well written as the Aspen Torts and Civ Pro books. I often read passages in this book and shake my head because it’s so confusing. Property is tough, this book makes it worse.
