Pachira aquatica

Native to areas of Central and South America, this tropical tree sports beautiful hand-shaped foliage and an easy-growing nature. It’s more tolerant to overwatering than many common houseplants. This makes it an excellent choice for plant parents who tend to overwater. In its native habitat it can reach more than 50 feet tall but stays much smaller indoors.

It’s become associated with good fortune due to a legend about a farmer who found some seeds, planted them, and made a business of selling the trees. Thus, the tree brought him good fortune.

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. So a 20 minute job becomes a two hour job. The mounting system does appear very sturdy just not aligned.

A lot of my books fit on here and there’s still more room left if I wanted to buy more books. It’s a simple looking bookshelf but it’s really pretty. It’s also sturdy the only reason I gave it a 4 stars instead of 5 was because it comes with its own plastic screw anchors and they are crap. The shelves were wobbly when we installed them using the plastic screw anchors that came with the packaging. My dad set mine up and luckily he had a bunch of his own so he switched them out with better screw anchors. Once we made that switch it was perfect, there was no wobble or shaking at all. So that’s my only piece of advice. Besides for the screw anchors everything else is perfect
