  • Tradescantia Zebrina, or Wandering Dude, is one of the most colorful trailing houseplants with beautiful variegated purple and green foliage. This fast-growing plant is a member of the spiderwort family (Commelinaceae). In warm climates, Zebrina can be grown outdoors as a groundcover.

Tradescantia Zebrina has succulent stems with oval light green leaves and purple variegation. The underside of the leaves has a vibrant purple color. Bright light intensifies the color of this plant, but intense, scorching sun, on the other hand, makes the variegation fade.

Tradescantia Zebrina is incredibly easy to grow, and it adapts well to most indoor environments. Zebrina is a wonderful ornamental plant for any living space, adding a bold touch of nature to your home and office.

Zebrina is a fast-grower, and regular pruning would encourage branching and make it bushier. This plant is perfect for tall planters and hanging baskets.

Tradescantia Zebrina produces small light purple flowers that have 3 petals and yellow anthers. This plant rarely blooms indoors.
  • Tradescantia Zebrina needs plenty of bright, indirect sunlight to maintain its variegation. Low light will make its color fade. However, it does not tolerate direct harsh sunlight, which would burn its leaves.

Tradescantia Zebrina needs regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist. Water about once a week or whenever the soil begins to dry. Drain well to avoid excess water retained in the soil.

Tradescantia Zebrina isn't picky when it comes to picking the right soil. However, it grows best with a well-draining, nutrient-filled potting mix. It is recommended that you mix some vermiculite or peat moss with general houseplant soil to increase moisture retention.

This plant thrives in temperatures between 55°F-80°F and high humidity (over 50%). It does not grow well in temperatures below 50°F. It is recommended that you mist your plant and use a humidifier when the environment is too dry (humidity level falls below 50%).

This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

This plant is mildly toxic if ingested, so keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Feels cheap, not good for old eyes.
The watch seemed to work good. But it felt cheap, and I was looking for something with better illumination and easier to read. I ended up returning it.

Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking
Color: Green/Black
I love this watch despite the fact that it is really a toy. I love the look of the watch, I love how lite the weight of the watch is on my wrist, and it really does keep good time if you manage the solar charge properly. Other than looking cool on your wrist, this watch has absolutely no functions other than time keeping. The black plastic bezel is molded into the case and does not turn, so don't plan on using that. The watch has no light, the dial numbers are non-luminous and the hands are very limited in terms of luminosity. No buttons. All you can do is adjust the time and date by pulling out what used to be a winding stem in the good old days. The small tag on the strap with Geographic coordinates shown on it indicate the location of the old Timex manufacturing facility (SW of Waterbury, CT). I have a nice ledge at my bedroom window and it gets good western sun for a good part of the day regardless of the time of year. On this ledge you will find a half dozen solar powered watches (mostly Casio) properly aligned to maximize the charge they may receive each day. Note that the description for this Timex watch specifically states that a lightbulb won't charge this watch. You need direct sunlight for several hours if you want to get more than a 3-week charge into this watch. So, I'll leave you with a couple of tips, my friends; 1.) If you are looking for a first watch to give your outdoorsy oriented Son or Daughter, then give them this one. Why? Because it is cool looking, fairly well built, and it actually works, 2.) After you receive your Timex watch, be sure to keep the display mount it is packaged with. It makes a great fixture to mount your watch on for charging and allows you to maximize the position of the solar cells on the dial so that you can optimize charging time. Have Fun! Jimmy
