Growing Information

🌱 Plant Type: Bare root strawberry (day-neutral / everbearing)
🌱 Hardiness Zones: 4–9
🌱 When to Plant: Early spring, as soon as soil can be worked
🌱 When to Harvest: Late spring through fall, depending on location and growing conditions

Cultivation Tips

Soil requirements: Plant in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Ideal soil pH is 6.5–6.8. Avoid areas where water pools.
Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily) for best fruit size and sweetness.
Planting depth: Set plants so the crown (where roots meet stems) sits right at soil level—not buried and not exposed.
Spacing: For optimal berry size, space plants about 16 inches apart with rows 3–4 feet apart. Wider spacing improves airflow, light penetration, and nutrient access.
Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and maintain consistent moisture, especially during establishment and fruiting. Mulching helps conserve moisture.
Fertilization: Albion benefits from nitrogen-rich fertilization to support continuous flowering and fruit production.
Harvesting: Pick berries when fully red and fragrant. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production.
First-year care: Removing early flowers during the first few weeks can help plants establish stronger roots, though Albion will often still produce later in the season.

Additional Information

Albion strawberries arrive as dormant bare-root crowns (roots without soil). Upon arrival, unpack immediately and soak roots in water for 1-2 hours (or up to overnight if needed). Plant as soon as possible. If planting is delayed, store roots in a cool, moist place (such as a refrigerator) wrapped in damp paper.

Albion also offers resistance to verticillium wilt, phytophthora crown rot, and some anthracnose crown rot, making it easier to grow with fewer chemical inputs.

Non-GMO Commitment: At The Farm on Central, all our plants are guaranteed non-GMO and not genetically modified in any way, upholding natural breeding methods and promoting sustainable gardening and farming practices.

Growing method: Conventionally grown.

Pup Loves It, Some Other Notes
Color: Orange
We've had this for about six months and my 75 lb, 14-month-old German Shepherd pup LOVES IT. Her favorite is "Crazy Bouncing Mode." In fact, she doesn't care much for the normal mode. She chews it a lot - even drops it in her water bowl at times - and it's still going strong. This is a great purchase. It's nice hands-off entertainment. Do know that it is heavy compared to a normal ball - if your pup likes dropping it on the ground like mine does, it will land with a hard "thud," even with the included sleeve. Hopefully you don't have downstairs neighbors. Also know that the cover that goes over the charging port is removable and your dog may choke on it if they chew it in just the right manner. Definitely only let the pup play with it while supervised. All in all, great toy.

A total joke.
Pattern Name: Cage Ball, Size: Large - 4 Inch / 8.5 oz
I was so hopeful and really wanted this to be as good as the sellers claimed. After all, they boast of a lifetime replacement (a joke and be sure to read the ridiculous terms lol). I have a "pocket pitty" and she loves rubber toys. There is not much I have found that can withstand her force; however, reading reviews AND seeing their warranty, I wanted to give it a try. Typically, I stick with Java wood and XL super dense knotted ropes, as that has been the only thing that can last any real amount of time. Thankfully, she never goes after our stuff or household items/furniture, just her toys. The ball arrived. I checked it over. It looked semi promising. I was hopeful. The design does allow for them to leverage their paw strength by getting it between the rubber bars and then pull with their teeth. Within 3 minutes of her having it, she already had a bar ripped off. Within 5 minutes, she had 3 bars ripped off. Don't get me wrong, she had a blast. But this is by no means strong enough for an actual aggressive chewer. Perhaps there is just not anything rubber that can handle her jaws, but now I can't get a replacement because the warranty only covers if the product is defective. It doesn't cover chewing damage (on any of their products). The advertising is very misleading so be aware. Why a replacement if she will just destroy it again you may wonder? She loves to go after a ball, but now I know she can kill this one, I keep them in a drawer and only let her play fetch with it while supervised. I will say though, I you have a puppy, I think this would be great for them as long as they are not extra large. The material has give, which is nice. But if you have a real aggressive chewer, don't waste the money.
