Selenicereus wercklei — spineless tropical cactus for trailing growth

Selenicereus wercklei is a tropical vining cactus with slender green stems and a smooth trailing outline. Its long, flexible stems can hang from a pot, move along a shelf or be guided loosely on a support.

This species is native to Costa Rica and belongs to the epiphytic Selenicereus group, with stems growing among other vegetation in wet tropical habitats. In a pot, bright filtered light, warmth, airy drainage and careful watering keep the stems firmer and reduce wet-root stress.

Selenicereus wercklei stem and habitat details

  • Plant type: Tropical epiphytic or vining cactus.
  • Family: Cactaceae.
  • Native range: Costa Rica.
  • Habitat type: Wet tropical biome.
  • Stem habit: Long, slender stems that can trail from a hanging pot.
  • Spines: Known for spineless stems with a smooth green surface.
  • Flowers: Mature plants can produce night-opening flowers in favourable conditions.

Trailing growth on Selenicereus wercklei

Selenicereus wercklei extends from long, flexible stems that naturally fall or wander beyond the pot edge. A hanging pot gives the stems space to lengthen, while a loose support can guide individual stems upward.

The stems benefit from an open root zone and steady warmth. A compact wet mix around the base of the plant raises the risk of soft growth and rot, especially during cooler periods.

Selenicereus wercklei care in a warm indoor setup

  • Light: Give bright filtered light with protection from harsh direct sun through glass.
  • Watering: Water when the mix has dried well, then let excess water drain fully.
  • Humidity: Moderate humidity is enough when air moves freely around the stems.
  • Temperature: Keep warm year-round and away from cold, damp positions.
  • Substrate: Use a loose cactus or epiphyte mix with mineral grit, pumice, perlite or bark.
  • Pot choice: Use a hanging pot with drainage holes or a stable pot that can balance trailing stems.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth; heavy feeding can push soft, weak stems.
  • Mineral growing: Mineral-heavy substrate is useful for drainage, while a wet reservoir is risky for cactus roots.
  • Pruning: Cut overlong stems at a joint and root healthy sections as cuttings.

Root and stem issues on Selenicereus wercklei

  • Soft stems: Often linked to wet roots, stale substrate or low temperatures.
  • Thin weak growth: Usually means the plant needs brighter filtered light.
  • Dry stem tips: Can follow irregular watering, damaged roots or hot direct sun.
  • Pest hiding spots: Check stem joints and tight areas for scale or mealybugs.
  • Poor rooting: Cuttings root more reliably in warm conditions with lightly moist, airy substrate.

Safety for Selenicereus wercklei

Keep Selenicereus wercklei away from pets and small children and avoid ingestion. The stems are spineless, but damaged cactus tissue should still be handled cleanly during pruning or propagation.

Botanical background for Selenicereus wercklei

Selenicereus wercklei is an accepted species in Cactaceae, originally published by Britton and Rose in The Cactaceae in 1920. The genus name refers to Selene, the moon, and points to the night-opening flowers associated with Selenicereus cacti.

Selenicereus wercklei extends long, smooth green cactus stems from hanging pots in warm, filtered light.

Creality K1 SE - Prints great with stock settings - needs a side spool mount
Set name: K2 SE, Set name: K2 SE
I bought the Creality K1 SE a little over a week ago. I had an Ender 3 S1 before this printer. The K1 SE is so, so much easier to print with right out of the box! I definitely recommend it. It's a good way to get the improvements that were built into Creality's K1C, but at a nicer price. Plus, you can install your own version of Klipper if you want. I've printed 10 or so things in PLA and PETG, and I haven't had any failed prints. The automatic bed leveling has just worked. I have not had any problems with bed adhesion. On the Ender 3 S1, I only used a textured PEI plate, but the smooth build plate on the K1 SE works fine. The extruder cooling fan also seems ok for what I've printed so far. I printed an overhang test and the 75 degree overhang looks fine, but it had trouble at 80 degrees. The bridging test looked ok. (The longest bridge was only 25 mm on that test however.) I've put the printer in a soft-sided enclosure that I had used for my old Ender 3 S1. (It's easy to find similar encolsures.) The LEDs on the K1 SE are bright enough to see inside which is something that I was concerned about before I purchased. However, this enclosure makes it difficult to access the back of the printer where the filament spool is mounted, so I designed a mount that clamps onto the side-bar - see the pictures. The files are on Printables - "Creality K1 SE Side Spool Mount".

Almost Good
Set name: K2 SE
The nozzle cleaning is completely ineffective. The wiper pushes material up the sides of the nozzle and melts onto the nozzle. The result is the nozzle leaves burnt debris on the prints. The calibration before each print only probes 5 points on the bed and the results are not satisfactory, with the nozzle being variously too close or too far from the bed. To adjust the z offset you have to go through several menus and the machine seems to not remember where you set it last time. Print quality is good except for VFAs. Part cooling fan is very loud at full speed.

Assembly Tricks And Tips.
Color: Dark Grey, Size: 5 Seat
All my packages came at same time. Assembly is in 3 phases, each box had the same complete instruction book, but each phase was not completely together in the same box. I immediately started opening boxes and just separated by letters. A's here, B's here. Not all A's or the other letters are the same, but it is very easy to follow the instructions. You won't get it mixed up. 3 hardware kits, it's pretty easy. Picture Book Difficulty :) The one large headboard piece was Letter M. There was no sticker on it, but there were no M stickers either. Pretty easy. It's not a thick grandma's pull-out bed type of couch, but seems sturdy. I probably should have got the 3 year warranty, and I only have one kid. This isn't a couch to front-flip off the island on to, but it is nice and comfy and seems to be worth the cost. Assembly took about 2-3 hours casually I think. I used impact drill. Luckily it's 1 screw head size, then the socket for the nuts basically (provided). Communication with seller was easy and transparent. Idk what else people might be looking for in these reviews. It smelled completely fine. Good purchase. They say to air it out for a while, but I just assembled it immediately it didn't mess up anything. OH! And a little trick for the double sided threaded bolts with no head, they can get stuck hand tightening it so tighten down one of the nuts all the way to the end of the exposed thread that sticks up, and you can thread those bolts that don't have a head WAY easier using the nut as the head. Then just loosen the nut back off of it. You'll understand what I mean. Thank You

Would buy again!!!
Color: Dark Grey, Size: 7 Seat
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect Couch for Comfort, Space, and Style! I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of the SUAWY 108 Inch Sectional Sleeper. From the moment it arrived, I knew I made the right choice. Setup was straightforward, and the couch feels incredibly sturdy and well-built. The fabric is soft to the touch yet durable enough to handle everyday use, which is perfect for both lounging and having guests over. The size is exactly what I was looking for — spacious enough to seat a large group comfortably without feeling cramped. Whether I’m relaxing after work, having friends over, or stretching out for a nap, it provides more than enough room. The chaise and sleeper function are real game changers. The pull-out sleeper is surprisingly supportive and comfortable — not at all like the thin, saggy mattresses I’ve experienced with other sofa beds. My guests have all commented on how well they slept! I also love the storage space built into the sectional. It’s so convenient for keeping extra blankets, pillows, or even board games tucked away neatly. This design makes it feel like the couch was made with real-life use in mind, not just looks. Speaking of looks, the style is modern and clean, and it blends perfectly into my living room. The neutral tone makes it easy to decorate around, and it honestly makes the whole room look more put-together. Overall, this sectional sleeper has completely exceeded my expectations. It’s comfortable, practical, stylish, and worth every penny. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate — this is absolutely one of the best furniture investments I’ve made. I’m genuinely so happy every time I sit down on it, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a large, versatile sectional.

An okay sectional
Color: Dark Grey, Size: 5 Seat, Color: Dark Grey, Size: 5 Seat
I want to give my honest review of this couch. One significant difference in the actual couch vs the photos here is the back of the couch is actually much thinner than in the photos. It’s made with metal framing that is very thin covered in fabric with no sort of padding. Also, the back of the couch does not angle back far. Which makes the couch pretty uncomfortable, as your back is up at almost a 90 degree angle. The quality of the couch overall is good. It was easy to assemble and I didn’t really run into any issues in that regard. Like others have said. The cushions are quite thin and also not super soft. The couch is also quite low to the ground, so if you’re looking for that oversized super soft couch, this probably isn’t the one. I do love the pull out bed/chaise which is super nice, ans the storage is great too. For the cost of the couch I think the quality and comfort are good. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it.
