Philodendron Goeldii (Thaumatophyllum spruceanum)

Philodendron Goeldii is a bold, architectural foliage plant that brings a tropical, design-forward look to indoor spaces. It is a great choice when you want a statement plant with a clean structure, since it develops a stronger, more self-supporting form over time. With bright, indirect light and steady watering after partial dry-down, it grows into a fuller specimen that looks established and impressive. If you want a dramatic plant that feels modern, sculptural, and easy to style, Philodendron Goeldii is a strong pick.

Distinctive Features

This plant is prized for its unique leaf presentation, with long leaflets arranged in a radiating, umbrella-like pattern that creates a bold silhouette. The foliage is typically rich green with a smooth surface, and the leaf division adds texture and movement without needing variegation. As it matures, it can develop a thicker stem and a more upright, tree-like profile in a container, giving it the presence of a specimen plant. The overall look is architectural and tropical, making it a standout in bright rooms and modern interiors.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Bright, indirect light is ideal, and it tolerates medium light with slower growth and less dense foliage.
  • Soil: Airy, well-drained aroid mix that holds some moisture but never stays soggy.
  • Water: Water when the top 2 inches of soil dry, and do not let the pot sit in water.
  • Humidity: Average home humidity is fine, and moderate humidity supports best leaf size and condition.
  • Growth Habit: Upright, self-supporting plant with divided foliage, becoming more tree-like as it matures.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Use as a statement plant where the umbrella-like foliage can anchor the room.
  • Bright Room Corner: Place in a bright corner to add height, texture, and a lush tropical feel.
  • Entry and Living Spaces: Feature in open areas where its sculptural silhouette can stand out.
  • Office and Commercial Spaces: Use in well-lit interiors for a bold plant that reads clean and professional.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Allow a partial dry-down between waterings, and reduce watering during slower winter growth.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer at a moderate strength.
  • Cleaning: Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and keep the foliage looking fresh.
  • Stability: Use a stable pot and rotate occasionally to keep growth even as the plant gains size.

Why Choose PhilodendronGoeldii?

  • Architectural Form: Radiating leaflets create a standout silhouette that feels modern and sculptural.
  • Specimen Presence: Develops into an established plant that anchors bright indoor spaces.
  • Self-Supporting Habit: Upright growth offers impact without needing a climbing pole.
  • Approachable Care: Thrives with bright, indirect light and a straightforward watering routine.

Philodendron Goeldii is a great choice when you want a tropical statement plant with a clean, architectural look. Give it bright, indirect light, an airy mix, and watering after partial dry-down, and it will grow steadily and stay impressive. With time, it becomes a reliable focal plant that brings indoor jungle energy in a polished, design-forward way.

Ethiopia from the time when the Queen of Sheba ruled
Format: Kindle
Ethiopia has a long rich history that Captivating History managed to cover in 100 pages. This book starts out by letting us know that Ethiopia is one of the first places humans settled in. One of the first kingdoms in Ethiopia was the Kingdom of Aksum. Like most African countries, Aksum established trade routes and had the silk road running through their kingdom. The Queen of Sheba is a controversial historical leader. Many scholars believe she was queen in Ethiopia. The bible states that a queen of the south came to Israel to meet King Solomon. Historians believe that the queen of the south was in fact the Queen of Sheba. While the queen was there her and King Solomon became very close and when the Queen of Sheba returned to Ethiopia she had King Solomon's baby. Menelik I may have been King Solomon's son. Some believe that when Menelik I when to visit his father, King Solomon, Menelik returned to Ethiopia with the Ark of the Covenant. Some believe that the ark is hidden away in some Ethiopian monastery, still today. There is still a lot of Ethiopia's history left for you to learn about by reading this book.

History of Ethiopia
Format: Kindle
Ethiopia is an essential nation-state in Africa. It has a great civilization and history. The reign of Johannes IV was crucial to the Kingdom of Ethiopia. Moreover, Haile Selassie was another vital emperor. Ethiopia suffered under communism. Currently, Ethiopia faces foreign challenges from its neighbors and political corruption domestically. Specifically, political unrest dominates the domestic life of Ethiopia. The author presents and discusses the achievements and challenges of the Ethiopian people from Ancient Times to Modern Times. It is a well-written book.

Informative, compact history of rulers, religion and struggles.
Format: Kindle
This book is well written. It filled out my knowledge of Ethiopia, which was mostly that it was isolated from neighbors and most empires. I had heard of biblical contacts, two Italian invasions, civil wars and famines. In this book I learned of contacts with ancient Rome, Byzantium, the Ottomans, and Arabs. Trade carried on the silk road, and by sea. There was influence of Judaism, Islam and competing Christian sects. The sequence of leaders were covered as well as how they came to power. Many conflicts are covered, insurrections and invasions. The Haile Selassie period is covered, as well as his downfall. Then the military period is covered, with communism and factionalism. Finally the recent period is covered,up to the present civil wars of 2022. I would recommend this compact book, for anyone planning a visit, or wanting background knowledge.

Don't get tricked into buying this book like I did.
Format: Paperback
This is a fake book written by AI. It reads worse than a Wikipedia article and is a complete scam.
