This easily grown royal purple lily turf is widely known for its attractive dark green grass-like foliage and its densely packed royal purple blooms that turn to black berries in the fall.
The Liriope royal purple flower spikes appear in early spring and last throughout the growing season. The liriope flower stalks resemble grape hyacinth. The green leaves have year-long interest.
Royal Purple Liriope Care
The Royal Purple Liriope grass will grow in part sun to partially shaded areas but prefer a mixture of both. They can tolerate full sun if planted in a spot with afternoon full shade. They have good tolerance to heat, humidity, and are drought tolerant.
The Muscari purple liriope plant has no serious insect or disease problems and may be used for ground covers or edging plants. It’s also deer resistant! It will grow up to 1 foot tall and wide give or take and up to 18 inches.
Similar to monkey grass with purple flowers, this grass grows in a clumping form and prefers well-drained soils.
