In spring, dense clumps of sword-like leaves emerge, followed by tall, branching spikes that rise in midsummer, bearing brilliant red, flared, funnel-shaped flowers. This exceptional and long-lived plant thrives in nearly any location and offers consistently reliable performance.
- Crocosmia has a range of colours such as bright reds, yellow and or orange with slender pleated leaves that make the best sounds when its windy or when you brush by them. Excellent for the back of borders.
- start seeds indoors and transplant outdoors after risk of frost has passed.
- Place a 2 inch layer of seed starting mix into a tray and plant seeds 1/4 in deep; mist and provide further moisture without disturbing seeds. Place in indirect but bright light and keep soil moist. Seeds germinate within 2-3 weeks. Transplant seedlings when they have 4-6 sets of true leaves.
- Keep watered after transplanting. Mulch around bases to conserve moisture.
- Fertilize with water soluble fertilizer for flowering perennials. repeat in july when blooming.

- Harvest the seeds when the seed pods turn brown and have a papery texture. The seeds inside should be dry and brittle. Separate the chaff from the seeds and place in a brown paper bag. Store in a cool dry place until you are ready to grow.

Difficulty

I’ve had these shoes for a few months now. When I first got them, they were very painful to wear. I was wearing them pretty much every day but found them to be extremely tight. I thought perhaps the shoe just had to “stretch“ and conform to the shape of my foot, so I decided to give them a few weeks to do that. After a few weeks, they were still somewhat painful to wear. It was only until just within the last month or so that they have become painless to wear. So please be aware that you might find the shoes to be very uncomfortable when you first get them. Give them a chance to stretch and adapt to the shape and contours of your feet, though.
The shoes are extremely lightweight and very flexible and bendable. They almost seem cheap in that regard, so I’m not sure what to make of that. I’ve never had a pair of shoes like this that were so flexible. I’m used to having a hard, rigid sole and an inflexible upper.
The shoes do look very nice and seem to be holding up well. People have complained in their reviews that the stitching at the back on the heel comes undone. I haven’t noticed that with mine — yet. That is the only part of the shoe that doesn’t seem to be designed very well. Why put stitching in such a precarious place on the shoe? This is the first shoe I have ever seen that has stitching on the heel like that. But, as I mentioned, my stitching is NOT coming undone like many others have reported.
PROS:
1) The shoe seems to fit comfortably after a couple months of extreme discomfort. Still not the most comfortable shoe overall,
though
2) The shoe looks nice!
CONS:
1) The shoes seemed very tight when I first got them and stayed that way for a couple of months thus ensuring extreme discomfort and pain when walking in them.
2) The stitching in the heel is a bad design!
3) Due to the shoes being extremely lightweight and flexible, they almost seem cheaply made.

Nice-looking shoes
Size: 7.5, Color: B-black
I really like the look of these shoes. They can be worn for more casual look or more dressy look. When I first tried them on I considered returning them because they were a little tight in the width. I wore them for the first time today. After only 2-3 hours of wearing them I could tell that they stretched some and weren’t so tight across my toes. They were comfortable too. I am generally not hard on shoes so hoping they will hold up well.
