Botanical description.

Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is a variegated plant and probably a hybrid. This hybrid can be quite confusing! If you search for information online, you will quickly come across conflicting information. Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is often said to be a hybrid of Philodendron squamiferum, but some growers claim it is a cross between P. laciniatum and P. pedatum. The problem? P. laciniatum and P. pedatum are actually the same species.

Philodendron pedatum is thus the correct name, but that does not necessarily mean that Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is a pure hybrid of that species. Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is therefore a hybrid and not a species. It is difficult to say exactly which species are part of the hybrid's origin. However, it seems likely that something more than just P. pedatum is present in its genetic background.

Appearance.

The plant has multi-lobed leaves with a large lower lobe and climbs quickly if it gets something to attach itself to. The leaves grow between 15 and 23 cm in size and the plant requires high humidity to thrive.

Care.

Philodendron florida beauty thrives in bright, indirect light. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid overwatering. Let the top inch dry out between waterings. Prefers warm temperatures between 18–27°C. When repotting, use a well-drained potting soil with good air circulation. Prune yellow or damaged leaves as needed.
