    About this genus:

Echinacea is a genus of nine species of herbaceous flowering plants in the daisy family (Asteraceae). The generic name is derived from the Greek word echino, meaning "sea urchin," due to the spiny central disk.  The common name is "coneflower". This American native doesn't help with cold symptons!  According to Wallace Sampson, MD, its modern day use as a treatment for the common cold began when a Swiss herbal supplement maker was "erroneously told" that echinacea was used for cold prevention by Native American tribes who lived in the area of South Dakota!

The books will say that two things that Echinacea plants do not like are heavy clay soils and poor winter drainage; and you know what? they are right for a change! We have had trouble growing most of them here in our wet clay garden at Ballyrobert - and we have tried many many cultivars over the years. That just leaves us with only a few cultivars which we grow and are confident enough to sell ( see photos if you don't believe us!). These few cultivars we sell (not Echinaceas in general!) should be ok almost anywhere that isn't a pond or in full shade. You can thank us for the the hard work when yours come into flower! We will keep trialing all the new cultivars tho, so watch this space.

Like many genus in the daisy family the flower heads give great structure long after the petals have dropped. Common partner plants are numeros (mostly from the daisy family); Aster, Buddleia, Coreopsis, Eucomis, Euphorbia, Geranium, Iris, Kniphofia, Monarda, Phlox and Salvia/ Although I must say I like them on their own.

    Stunning Second Chance Romance
    Format: Paperback
Well, I truly began my February reading in the best way with this book. I was so excited to read it after absolutely loving the Tattered and Torn series and it DELIVERED my friends. It has all of the emotions, all of the beauty, all of the suspense I’ve come to adore in Catherine’s books turned up even just a little more. Dare I say she even turned up the spice a bit?? Phew with the heat between these two! Along with the suspense element we get served small town, an over protective hero, and the most heart melting of second chance romances. Right from the prologue this book is off and running, I was not prepared for it. You meet Wren and hear about her gorgeous love for Holt. An absolutely horrific event occurs though that we learn sends him running for 10 years, and makes her a ghost of her former self after losing him. Neither of them, especially Holt, handled the aftermath well. It made me love them more though to see the growth they go through when he comes back and they reforge their intense, soul deep connection. Both of them face a whole lot of demons. I also love that even though it was completely awful for them both to be apart, Holt leaving forces Wren to become independent and stand on her own. So their second time around, it’s an even stronger, more equal relationship. If you follow my feed closely, you also know that I am always gone for a found family dynamic, and we have that here in spades with the way the Hartleys watch out for Wren. Her relationship with Holt’s parents and siblings is just gorgeous. The way Holt heals his relationship with them all is wonderful too. I’m already deeply in love with Nash and cannot WAIT for his book next. Yes to a new family saga series, please and thank you!!! I can’t recommend this one enough.

Definitely reading more by this author!!!
    Format: Paperback
I really enjoyed this book! I absolutely love Holt and Wren. I loved watching them come back together and admit their feelings for each other. What I loved most was the mystery and suspension all throughout this book! It had me hooked from the very beginning, and just when I thought I knew who the culprit was, it was twisted to someone I never expected! I’ll definitely be reading more by this author 🫶🏻

First book by Catherine Cowles and it did not disappoint!
    Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
This was my first book by Catherine Cowles and I am sooo hooked on this series!! I fell in love with Holt & Wren. Having read the blurb before reading, I sort of knew what to expect but you’re left guessing all the way until the end who the culprit is😳 Never in a million years would I have ever guessed it right. It’s so easy to see the love between Holt & Wren never went away and all they did for 10 years was delay the inevitable. Second chance romances are some of my favorites and this was such a good example of it. It was SO fun to watch their love grow again🫶🏼 I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and catch up with the fam and see all their love stories bloom!
