It abandons the early diversity and randomness of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, focusing more on the standardization of forms and hierarchical distinction.

The core styles include Shenyi, Ruqun, and Quju robe. The Shenyi is a garment that connects the upper and lower parts, meaning "covering the body deeply". It is divided into straight-front and curved-front styles. The straight-front style is concise and grand, while the curved-front style has multiple layers of wrapped lapels, mostly used in ceremonial occasions. The Ruqun consists of a short cross-collar right-overlapping Ru top and a floor-length skirt, with a wide and flowing skirt. The Quju robe, with its wrapped lapel design, highlights a solemn and elegant ceremonial sense.

Fabrics are mainly silk and linen.
