Lenore - A Witchy Vintage Original

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Lenore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Lenore!”—
            Merely this and nothing more.

--Edgar Allan Poe, "The Raven"

+++++

The Lenore dress was inspired by house dresses, wrappers, and tea gowns from the turn of the century and early 1900s.

Growing up I was fascinated by the weird and wonderful works of Edgar Allan Poe. I read every single poem and short story I could get my hands on, but my favorite will always be "The Raven."

Poe is a master of the macabre, and I credit him as an influence in my love of all things dark and mysterious.

Wearing the Lenore dress feels like stepping into one of Poe's works. I could be lounging on a velvet cushion in the lamp-light of the ill-fated chamber in "The Raven" or walking the shadowed halls of the House of Usher.

I have never received so many compliments on anything I've ever worn. It is not only extremely comfortable to wear, but you may find it gives you spectral tendencies. Buyer beware.

Qualities:

I love seeing a dress that has survived over a hundred years, so well made and lovingly cared for, and with this wrapper dress, I'm striving to create a timeless piece with quality construction and close attention to detail: a future heirloom to be cherished.

I worked closely with a local tailor who helped me bring this design to life.

  • Handmade in the United States
  • 100% organic Italian cotton, and sewn with 100% organic cotton thread
  • Tagua nut buttons, sustainably harvested and made (and designed by me!)
  • Has two deep pockets!
  • High pointed collar and wide pointed cuffs
  • Adjustable sash belt (patterned after an 1880s belt in my personal collection), not attached, so it is interchangeable
  • Designed to be comfortable, flattering, and elegant for all sizes

While the inspiration for this dress was something worn around the house, this wrapper is something you'll want to wear for any occasion.

It slips on over the head and has a hidden inner bodice, secured with black buttons engraved with a crescent moon design.

The outer dress is open down to the waist with hidden snap closures and is secured with a detached sash belt (included) that ties in the back. It can also be styled with any belt of your choice.

Pleats in the front and the back give it structure while the extra fabric makes it very comfortable to wear.

The sleeves are slightly puffed at the shoulders and belled at the wrists in a bishop style. The wide cuffs come to a point on the back of the hand and are secured with a single white button, engraved with a sun design and burned finish.

The high collar has points on each side and fastens in the front with a single hook and eye.

A ruffled hem adds body to the skirt.

Sizing:

Size XXS-3XL are currently available.

The style of this dress lends itself to fit and flatter a range of sizes. It has an inner bodice, which is where we have measured the bust and waist. However, the outer dress is loose (with free hips), and the belt is used to cinch the waist to your desired size.

The high collar closes with a hook and thread at the base of the neck. Please check the collar circumference measurement to make sure this will fit comfortably. Due to the pleating on the back, the dress fits best when it is not tight around the shoulders, so check the shoulder measurement (measured between the seams, across the back) to ensure a good fit.

See the size chart below for measurements (for a larger image, see the last photograph in the listing). The measurements listed are the measurements of the actual garment, so keep that in mind when choosing your size. This style is not meant to be form fitting/tight, so a couple of extra inches of space is totally fine!

If you have any questions regarding sizing, please do not hesitate to ask! When in doubt, I recommend sizing up.

Care:

The dress is made of 100% organic Italian cotton. Hand washing or dry cleaning recommended.

Hand washing in cold water and air drying is how I have cleaned mine, but due to the nature of cotton and its tendency to wrinkle, and the design of the dress with its many pleats, the dress will need to be pressed after washing.

If washing rather than dry cleaning, you should also account for 1/2" to 1" of shrinkage.

One aspect of care that I want to mention is that limiting your washing and/or dry cleaning of this piece will greatly improve its longevity. That is why I'm including a pair of dress shields with every dress! (handmade made with super soft organic cotton flannel)

If you're unfamiliar with dress shields, they have been around a long time and are designed to help absorb underarm sweat to keep the dress from staining and also so you don't have to wash your clothing as frequently. Dress shields are little triangles of padded fabric that you can sew or pin into your dress or blouse. They can easily be removed and washed separately.

If you have a clothing steamer, it's a great way to quickly and easily remove wrinkles between wears.

And lastly, I hope you will cherish this dress for years to come, mending when the need arises and altering it if necessary. Extra buttons will also be included with your order.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

A good read
Format: Kindle
A good read, just fluffy cuteness, no antagonism. I like all the characters. It could have used another round of editing however, glanfds being one error that cracked me up, and my personal pet peeve was that the author kept using the word fill instead of feel, which I promise you are not interchangeable haha, but it's definitely better than the majority of books I read on here mistake-wise.

amazing
Format: Kindle
Knot the Bride was a fantastic read! The characters were all amazing and well-developed. It was easy to like them all. Sophia, Luca, Nick, and Gavin were all perfect for each other. It was such a charming story that had me hooked the entire time. I did wish there were POVs from Luca, Nick, and Gavin but it was still an amazing book without it. I am excited to read the next book in the Willowside Omegaverse series! This is definitely a must-read for fans of omegaverse romance!. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3 Star Read,
Format: Kindle
This book wasn't bad, but wasn't my cup of tea. It's highly disappointing because the storyline is so original. There is no real conflict or resolution, so the entire thing feels flat. As a lover of omegaverse books, I know there is a ton of variety out there, and ov is really up to the author. But this one is weird. Omegas have multiple scent glands all over their bodies and go into week long heats every month. Alphas have knots in the middle of their shaft instead of the base, and the knot doesn't always swell, no explanation of when or why. It doesn't engage at all when the mouth is in play. I also didn't enjoy the author's writing style. Each paragraph is only 1 or 2 sentences long, and the entire book reads very stacato. The conversations are stiff and unnatural feeling. Everything is very repetitive, both in word choice and in thought. The same thing is repeated 3 or 4 times over a single page, multiple times over. I ended up doing so much skimming. The first 50% of the book is all slow burn, and the last 50% is almost straight mediocre spice. This wouldn't have been all bad if the grammar and spelling errors didn't start at the exact same time. Tongue is repeatedly misspelled in the middle of the spice.
