The Ella Dress is one of our most beloved designs, known for its softly gathered bust, elegant lines, and graceful movement. The skirt is partially cut on the bias to create a beautiful drape, and the bodice is shaped with thoughtful construction that gives the neckline a close, flattering fit. Choose between two bodice views: View A features the original plunging neckline, while View B offers an adjustable version with a slightly higher cut. You can also choose between three sleeve styles: long voluminous sleeves, short puff sleeves, or flutter sleeves, all with underarm gussets for ease of movement.

Pattern difficulty
The Ella Dress is best suited for intermediate sewists. You’ll need to feel comfortable working with bias-cut pieces, drapey fabrics, and hand-finished details. Key techniques include bias binding, invisible zipper insertion, and setting in the two-part sleeve with gusset.

Fabric suggestions
Ella is designed for lightweight to midweight woven fabrics that offer both drape and a touch of structure. Ideal options include linen, cotton, and block prints. Fabrics with more fluidity, like rayon/viscose or Tencel, will create a softer silhouette.

Fabric usage
Cutting layouts are optimized for fabric 140 cm (55”) wide. We recommend purchasing a little extra to account for shrinkage or print alignment.

Metric (EU34 - EU54):
View A long sleeve: 3.41 m - 4.25 m

Imperial (US2/4 - US24):
View A long sleeve: 3.73 yd - 4.65 yd

Wonderful and short introduction to plate tectonics for those with little background in Earth science or mathematics
Format: Paperback
Molnar does an excellent job explaining key elements of plate tectonics. His book is understandable even for those with little background in geology or geophysics. Molnar, an expert on mountain building, nicely explains how collisions of plates with continents atop cause mountain belts to form. He also questions the limitations of plate tectonics in explaining formation of such mountains. Understanding Molnar's very short book requires little mathematics. An ideal text for college science courses for non-science majors, and for those who want to understand the evolution of Earth's geological features and phenomena.

Easy to read
Format: Paperback
The book was an easy to read discussion of plate tectonics. The technical terms were easily understood and presented in an interest manner. Technically sound and entertaining is a winning combination for a science book! I wold recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic but is not a scientist in the field.

Very short and very good
Format: eTextbook
I read this book or one similar to it my senior year in high school 1970. It absolutely caught my attention as a way to explain why the continents had separated from Gondwanaland. I really liked revisiting the theory in light of the advances made since then

I love VSI on Kindle
Format: eTextbook
The thing is they take a long time to read because of the look up feature. It's like reading a book in the Library of Congress.
