Protect Your Gear from Wind, Dew, Rain, and Dust

Most amateur astronomers and astrophotographers dream of having an observatory to keep dust, dew, and wind off of their telescope, and to help block glare from stray lights from entering their telescope optics. But for many astronomers, as important as an observatory is for any telescope, an observatory is only a dream because of the expense of a roll-off roof building or a dome. Then there is the problem that a observatory building needs a permanent site that is suitable for an observatory.

Portable, Fast Set-Up, and Low-Cost

A great solution is a portable observatory tent. Compared to their permanent-structure cousins, a tent is extremely low-cost, and can be set up almost anywhere where there is some flat space and clear view of the sky.

However, setting up a portable observatory structure can also be hassle on its own. No-one wants to waste their valuable observing time on reading complex instructions while trying to figure out what pole goes where. This is why we utilized a sturdy pop-up design. Setting up the Explore Scientific Pop-Up Observatory Tent is literally only a matter of releasing the band so that the tent can “pop up” from its pack. You really don’t need to do anything else besides connect the two observatory rooms with a velcro seam and peg it to the ground. Thanks to this simple design, the Explore Scientific  Two-Room Pop-Up Observatory sets up and tears down in only a couple of minutes, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy your weekend of astronomy.

Lots of Room for Your Gear - Super Compact When Folded Down

With 50 square feet of total space, and five-foot high walls matched with six-foot high wind break walls of the Explore Scientific Two-Room Pop-Up Observatory Tent, you can set up your computer gear in one room with the telescope in the other, or set up two complete telescope systems. Each room is 60-inches by 60-inches square.

In addition to being easy to set up and take down, another advantage of the pop-up design is that it is travel-friendly due to being lightweight and easy to store, folding down to 27-inch disk that is only 4 inches thick. This allows transport in a small car, or even transport on an aircraft for remote expeditions. And besides going to your favorite dark-sky site, portable observatory tents are usually the go-to choice for astronomers and astrophotographers attending star party events.

Blocks Out Stray Light with Materials that Last

The fact that the Explore Scientific Two-Room Pop-Up Observatory Tent is lightweight and easy to store and set up doesn’t mean that they aren’t able to withstand the elements. The black-out coated fabric is waterproof and offers UV protection, which means that the tent will last.

Large Doors for Easy Entrance

The large 42-inch high by 36-inch wide doors for entering the Observatory Tent and for passing through the connected rooms are generous-sized for an easy entrance and for passing through your equipment. These doors roll down to keep moisture out and their heavy-duty zippers will last for years.

Oversized Roof Protects Your Gear

Supplied with a large, oversize cover, you can protect your gear from the hot sun during the day, and from dew or the surprise rain shower with its coated, water-resistant material. Add a ground cloth tarp from your local hardware store to give even greater protection from the elements, and from insects.

Comes complete with cords and pegs to stake down the tent. The structure also has additional hoops for using heavy duty straps that can be purchased at local hardware stores.

Great design for a kitchen sink organizer -- will not tip or accumulate water
We've had an Oxo kitchen sink organizer for years, and it's been fine, except 1) tall brushes (for example, Oxo brushes) make it tippy, stray elbows or imperfect placement of the brush would knock it into the sink and 2) it built up a soapy sludge in the bottom that that had to be drained and wiped down constantly. This item solves both issues perfectly. Likes: Size - I think it's about 5 inches deep, which is just right to fit the strip of countertop that runs behind the sink, up against the backsplash Weight - The drying stone in the bottom gives the baskets some real heft, so there is no tipping it over by bumping a brush handle -- it really stays put Drying stone -- The diatomaceous drying stone that slides into the bottom of the main basket is a great idea. These are porous stones that will absorb water and then allow it to evaporate fairly quickly. So far, it seems to be doing its job well. I'm sure the stone will need a wipe down now and then to stay clean, but no puddles of sludgy soapy water in the bottom is a big plus Overall Design/Build quality -- The unit seems solid. It's a simple design, but there are no sharp edges or unfinished bits. Once in place it doesn't wobble a bit. I wasn't sure about the black powder-coated finish, but installed it looks clean and it's unobtrusive. I appreciate that the smaller basket for tall brushes sits on hooks and can be hung inside or outside the main basket. Ours sits inside, but there's plenty of room left over for sponges . And there's still room to stand up a bottle of liquid detergent or counter-top spray. NOT SO LIKES Nothing so far. I notice a lot of this style of sink organizer on Amazon, so presumably they're selling well. It's a great improvement over the older kinds. Five big, clean, well-organized stars. Highly recommended.
