Gym Challenge was the seventh and final set of Base Series released by Wizards of the Coast into the English market on October 16th, 2000. Continuing the "Trainer" theme from Gym Heroes, Gym Challenge focused more on the Pokémon owned by the gym leaders Sabrina, Koga, Blaine & Giovanni. The expansion focuses on Generation I Pokemon, and is based around Pokemon Red, Blue and Green. Cards have the same features as Gym Heroes, containing Gym Leader logos and names. The set boasts a total of 132 cards with the main chases including Holo Blaine’s Charizard, Holo Rocket’s Mewtwo & Holo Blaine’s Arcanine. The current market for the original Gym challenge is strong and with the modern release of Scarlet & Violet Battle Partners in March 2025, could see a reigintion of trainer theme cards/sets. This Gym Challenge (Unlimited) Complete Art Set features Kanto gym leaders Sabrina, Kyoga, Blaine and Giovanni - each pack is factory sealed.
