The 2024 Santa Cruz Heckler SL C S is built for riders who want a lightweight electric mountain bike that handles tough trails with ease and precision.

It's built with a Santa Cruz C carbon frame, designed to be strong yet light. Santa Cruz was one of the first MTB companies to specialize in carbon frames and their frames are top notch. They were the first to come up with many improvements in carbon frame technology, like one-piece construction and net shape lay-up. Their C-level frames are marginally heavier than their ultimate-tier CC frames so you can save some cash, while remaining just as strong and stiff. The light weight keeps the bike nimble on technical sections without losing durability when the terrain gets rough. You’ll notice it feels balanced and responsive, making tight corners and tricky lines more manageable.

Power comes from the Fazua Ride60 motor, which offers smooth, natural assistance exactly when you need it. Climbing hills becomes less of a grind, and flat stretches get a little extra push without overwhelming the ride feel. The integrated 430Wh Fazua battery is tucked neatly inside the frame to keep things clean while offering enough juice for longer rides. This way, you can spend more time on the trail and less worrying about charging.

Shifting gears? The SRAM GX drivetrain delivers reliable, crisp changes whether you’re powering up or down the trail. When you need to slow down fast, the SRAM Code R brakes respond immediately and with confidence, even in challenging conditions.

In the suspension department, the bike shines. Up front, the RockShox Lyrik Select+ has 160mm of travel, soaking up rocks, roots, and drops. The rear RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ shock keeps the back end stable and ready for whatever the trail throws at you. Thanks to Santa Cruz’s Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) suspension design, the bike pedals efficiently while offering a smooth and controlled feel over rough terrain, which reduces fatigue on longer rides.

Cable routing runs inside the frame, which means fewer snags and a tidier look. The SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger adds peace of mind by making it easier to get repairs done quickly if you take a tumble far from home.

Seat height can be dialed in with either a OneUp V2 Dropper Post or a RockShox Reverb, both 31.6mm diameter. Dropper posts give you the freedom to shift your center of gravity on the fly, whether charging downhill or climbing carefully.

The RaceFace AR Offset 30 wheelset paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs means this bike has strong, reliable wheels that won’t weigh you down, but can take a beating. The tires match the job perfectly, with Maxxis Minion DHF (29x2.5”) up front with 3C MaxxGrip and EXO protection for grip and puncture resistance, and a slightly smaller Maxxis Minion DHR II (27.5x2.4”) with 3C MaxxTerra and EXO+ for a balance of traction and durability in the rear.

Rounding things off is the Cane Creek 40 IS headset, which keeps steering smooth and precise ride after ride.

If you want a versatile, aggressive eMTB that pairs clever engineering with thoughtful details, the Santa Cruz Heckler SL C S makes a strong case.

Valuable and timely
Format: Kindle
The various perspectives on the topic of diversity was refreshing, and the focus was on what is most important about the Christian faith. It is much better to read case studies like these rather than the echo chamber of social media.

The Power of Story in the Information Age
Format: Hardcover
After reading John Inazu's first book 'Confident Pluralism', I thought this might be a deeper foray into the legal/cultural difficulty of living faithfully in a pluralistic society. Instead, Inazu and Keller do something different. They challenge us to listen to stories of folks seeking to embody the principles of 'confident pluralism'. Does it offer easy answers? No. However, it does offer us a window into the rich ways that God can move us, transform us and position us for His purposes in communities where we might have deep disagreements. Overall, these stories of small and large acts of faithfulness to exemplify Christ's humility, patience and tolerance were deeply encouraging to person that constantly tries the patient of a God whose love he does not deserve. Very thankful to Inazu and Keller for organizing this. This is an important conversation in an acrimonious age where we falsely substitute information/vital statistics for people/real relationship.

easily accessible stories for engaging the culture
Format: Kindle
Inazu gathers stories of Christians seeking to engage the broader culture while maintaining their faithful beliefs. I appreciate the varied perspectives, though not agreeing with all, but then his four categories as the beginning of practicing this. That one line demonstrated a humility that I appreciated. This brings practical application into a narrative form that should be easily accessible

A Breath of Fresh Air
Format: Hardcover
In a world that is filled with Christian books on how to defeat culture or to escape from it this book is a breath of fresh air. In the 10 years that I have worked with young people one of the hardest concepts to get across to them is that their work matters. And even beyond that, how do we work with or partner with people who are different than me? How do we work together for a common good? That they have opportunities to engage the world around them. This book helps to give words to what that looks like. Not only is it filled with diverse writers, it doesn't give easy answers but ones of hope. I am grateful for this work and will share it with any college senior, young adult, and parishioner that I can. BUY THIS BOOK!
