These glasses are well made, affordable, available in a variety of lens options, and most importantly the models we carry all come with the ever-important ANSI z87 shatterproof stamp of approval.

Why is proper shatterproof eyewear important while riding a motorcycle? Obviously, if you’re enjoying reading this sentence with both eyes and all the benefits of depth perception, these glasses will aid in retaining this ability. 

And not only are z87-rated safety glasses a good idea from a self-preservation standpoint, but in certain states and municipalities, they’re required by law.

Here at home, we’ve heard countless stories of hapless riders getting tickets from the NYPD for improper eyewear.

Fact: you could be commuting to work on empty streets in full leathers, boots, gauntlet gloves, and a full face helmet; but if you crack that visor to get some air while stopped with both feet on the ground at a stoplight, you could get a safety violation if you’re not wearing “proper” sunglasses underneath.

Present the officer with the Z87 inscription on the inside temple of these glasses, and also faintly inscribed on the lenses, and these are not the droids you're looking for. It also helps to know the law, which our favorite safety wonks at NYMSTF have laid out for us here.

But besides getting out of these Gotcha tickets, these Vise glasses are simply just a good idea to protect your eyeballs while out on the road.

The spirit of any motorcycle eyewear law is good—just consider that even if you might not lose an eye from inbound debris, when you do inevitably get nailed by dust or bugs, you are temporarily bound to be the most dangerous motorist on the road while you're immediately distracted.

Colorado agrees, and requires proper eyewear for all motorcycle riders and passengers. (The wisdom of the state’s helmet law, which is optional after the age of 18, is another story.)

Last (or maybe first?) — beyond the safety and legal implications, sometimes you just want to stick your head out the window and feel the wind in your hair. We’re big proponents of always wearing a proper full-face motorcycle helmet, and these glasses allow you to ride with your face as “in the wind” as possible while still being protected from the elements.

Bonus: They're also a great idea when using these glasses with an angle grinder, or a chainsaw.

Vise glasses are now offered in two different frame colors -- black, or clear. We also now offer these glasses in an "XL" frame. See inset image below for a side-by-side comparison.

Sadly, black frames with Hi-Viz yellow lenses lenses have been discontinued. Hi-Viz is only available in the clear-frame.

Changing lenses between glasses, while possible, technically voids the Z87 rating. We don't officially recommend swapping lenses at all, and (wink/nod) unofficially we don't recommend doing it more than once. Official Z87 lenses with the proper inscription are not sold separately.
