The succulent that likes light and shows it in the cheeks 🌞

Family: Crassulaceae • Pot diameter: 8.5 cm

Crassulaceae Evergreen Very bright position Sparse watering Clustering rosettes

The ×Graptoveria 'Bashful' is one of the most pleasing and beautiful succulents for anyone who loves clean shapes but also wants colour. It forms tight, symmetrical rosettes in a soft mint green that blush pink at the edges and develop stronger red tones when the light is bright and the temperatures are a little cooler. It has a very neat, almost geometric look, yet remains easy to grow and attractive both on its own and in arrangements. It is the kind of succulent that looks “tidy” from the start without ever losing its freshness.

Light

☀️ Very bright
With more light it develops stronger pink and red colouring.

Watering

💧 Sparse
Let the substrate dry well between waterings.

Colour

💗 Mint-pink
Soft green with pink to reddish colouring on the leaf edges.

Flowering

🤍 Gentle
Small white to pale yellow flowers on a slender flower stem.

What makes it stand out

  • 🌀 Tight, symmetrical rosettes with a very clean and balanced silhouette.
  • 💗 Mint green foliage that blushes beautifully when the light is right.
  • 🪴 It produces offsets and becomes fuller and more striking over time.

Ideal use

  • 🪟 On very bright windowsills, where it can fully develop its colouring.
  • 🌵 In succulent arrangements, as a calm but highly refined colour bridge.
  • 🎁 As a small gift succulent that looks instantly cared-for and distinctive.

Where to place it

Place it in a very bright position, ideally where it will receive plenty of strong light during the day. ‘Bashful’ loves brightness and responds with better colour, tighter rosettes, and a cleaner blush when the environment suits it. Indoors it works well close to a south- or east-facing window, while outdoors it needs gradual adaptation before prolonged summer sun.

What plants pair well with it

  • With succulents in glaucous or bluer tones, so the pink and mint-green shades stand out more clearly.
  • With more upright or linear forms, allowing its rosette to act as a soft geometric contrast.
  • With small ceramic or cement pots that let the colour do the visual work.

Composition goal: clean rosettes, soft blushing tones, and a very polished look without visual noise.

Origin of the variety click to read

Hybrid identity: ‘Bashful’ belongs to the ×Graptoveria group, meaning it comes from hybridisation between Graptopetalum and Echeveria. That helps explain why it combines the geometric rosette and colour with an easy, resilient growing habit.

Selection & naming: Specialist succulent references commonly attribute this cultivar to Renee O’Connell and describe it as an Altman Plants hybrid of unknown exact parentage. In nursery circulation, the plant is usually treated as a horticultural hybrid rather than a wild-origin taxon.

Variety character: Its key feature is the tight, almost perfect symmetry of the rosette and the soft mint-green foliage that blushes pink to red at the edges in stronger light and cooler conditions.

Alternative market names: In trade it has also been linked with the names 'Jujube', 'Pink Ruby', and 'Pinkle Ruby'. Even under different labels, the character stays the same: small, symmetrical, softly blushing, and particularly elegant.

1) Substrate: Use a very free-draining succulent mix with plenty of mineral material.
2) Watering: Water היט լավ and then allow the mix to dry properly before watering again.
3) Light: Give it as much light as it can comfortably handle for a tighter form and a better blush.

Available in three colors
Color: Black
These metal mesh trays come in three colors – black, silver and white. While most mesh organizers are black, it’s nice that two other colors are available that might fit better into your décor. There are no interior dividers, which I find to be not very useful anyway. These do not stack, so the clearance is only limited to the height of any shelf above the tray. The trays are as described in the ad. The trays come with 12 self-adhesive foot pads that are round about 5/8” in diameter and about 2mm thick. These will prevent the trays from scratching whatever they are set upon. The trays will prevent loose objects from falling from your desk or shelf.
