With three different style tape delays modeled, a spring reverb and 10 controllable parameters, the EL Capistan is an incredibly functional and amazing pedal. Thanks to Strymon’s powerful DSP technology, they’ve managed to meticulously and accurately recreate the tape delay experience without the quirks of an actual analog machine. Being a digital pedal also allows the use of tap tempo, something that is unheard of and nearly impossible on a typical analog tape delay. In addition to the features mentioned above, the EL Capistan also offers a sound on sound tape looping mode. By using the tap tempo button in the single tape head setting on mode C, you can create incredible loops with the added bonus of analog tape delay mojo imparted on the signal.
