Not all “N20” motors are created equal — performance can vary dramatically depending on the manufacturer and design. After working with over a dozen suppliers, we developed the Turnabot N-Series Motors specifically for small competitive robots. We started with one goal: absolute maximum power — more torque and speed than most builders could ever use in a 3–5 minute match. Then we kept going. Through continuous testing and refinement, the Turnabot N-Series has become known for exceptional reliability. Many of our motors have survived years of demo-bot abuse and worn through multiple sets of tires while still running strong.

Product Description

3 Sizes (N10, N20, N30): The letters and numbers (like N10, N20, and N30) describe the size of the motor housing—an N10 is smaller than an N20, which is smaller than an N30. Bigger motors have more power and create more torque, but they also add weight.

Range of Speeds:

• N10: 700, 1200, 1650, 3600 rpm

• N20: 101, 800, 1400, 2000, 3000 rpm (1400s come in high temp, hardened shaft for extra durability)

• N30: 600, 1000 rpm

Each motor has its RPM when run on 2S batteries laser-etched on the case for easy reference. (Price is for one motor.)

Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) Compatibility & Power Notes

Pick the speed/weight profile that fits your drivetrain and battery:

• N10 — Ultralight and still has more power and torque than many N20s. (weight: 8.2 g)

• Up to two N10 motors per drive side using a Standard Malenki on 2S

• Up to two N10 motors per drive side using a Malenki HV on 3S

• N20 — The most popular size. (9.6 g)

• One N20 motor per drive side using a Standard Malenki on 2S

• Up to two N20 motors per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S

• One N20 motor per drive side using a Malenki HV on 3S

• N30 — The “monster” of the current offerings. Enormous torque and the associated current requirements. (12.1 g)

• Can use one N30 motor per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S

• For more motors and / or more voltage use a Scarab

Real-World Performance

Our ~10-gram N-series motors deliver the kind of torque many builders expect only from much larger 16 mm, ~28-gram motors — at less than half the weight.

Even the high-speed 3600 RPM N10s have enough torque to spin all four sticky tires on a 150 g bot while carrying another 150 g bot (about 300 g total on the wheels).

The higher-speed N20s have so much power that they often exceed available traction, spinning the tires even in 1-pound bots.

This much power in such a small package also carries a critical caveat:
➡️ Do not stall them for long periods! Continuously applying power while the motor is prevented from spinning will damage any brushed motor this strong.
