Five is a five band opamp gyrator equalizer pedal. It was designed to be used in tandem with Paramount Tube Preamp but also excels at ANY guitar application. Five EQ has 6 more db available than the studio preamp. Not 12, but 18db of boost or cut. Nerdvana, Metarrica, or Santaner! 

The Studio Preamp EQ was the goal here so the frequencies match and the unit is designed to be run up to 24V. To approximate the original rack mount headroom (27V). 

Even then, extremely hot input signals may cause some distortion. If you hear any, turn your input level down and power amp up. This is especially true post preamp the way the rack mount did.Distortion increases as voltage/headroom decrease. 

I recommend 24V, and I use a voltage doubler cable to combine two 12V outputs personally for ease. CIOKS power supplies and cables are recommended.

Will work without issue at lower voltages (9-18v) albeit with decreased headroom.
