The JHS 424 Gain Stage brings the iconic lo-fi, elastic tones of the TASCAM Portastudio 424 straight to your pedalboard. From rubbery cleans to high-headroom grit and smashed-out fuzz, this pedal captures the sound that inspired artists from Springsteen to Spoon. Faithfully recreating the original 424 MKI circuit with vintage op-amps, it offers intuitive controls for volume, dual-stage gain, and bass/treble EQ, plus a balanced XLR output for direct-to-mixer recording. Use it as a preamp, overdrive, distortion, or full-on fuzz—stack it with your favorite amp or pedals for ultimate tonal versatility. Experience the legendary Portastudio sound without hauling around a massive recorder—perfect for home, studio, or stage. CONTROLS: VOLUME (Corresponds to Portastudio® Master) - Controls the output volume. Left is less, right is more. On the Portastudio 424, this is the MASTER fader. GAIN 1 (TRIM) - Sets how much preamplification will be added to the input signal. On the Portastudio 424, this is the TRIM control. GAIN 2 (CHANNEL) - Sets the volume level of the second gain stage. On the Portastudio 424, this is the CHANNEL fader. BASS - Cuts or boosts bass frequencies. Left is less, right is more. TREBLE - Cuts or boosts the treble frequencies. Left is less, right is more. INPUT - Top ¼” right jack. OUTPUT - Top ¼” left jack. XLR OUTPUT - XLR jack on the left side of the pedal. This is a balanced output which can be used as a direct-out straight into a mixer or interface. The 1/4” output and XLR output can be used simultaneously. GROUND LIFT - Dip switch on the left side of the pedal. If you experience a hum/buzz while using the XLR output, use this switch to lift the ground. POWER - Requires 9VDC center negative power and consumes 50mA. The 424 Gain Stage is silent, soft touch switching with a buffered bypass. Solid bamboo board set for the price

This bamboo cutting board set has been a nice addition to my kitchen. I like having different sizes available, and I especially appreciate being able to reduce how often I use plastic cutting boards. Mine did have a strong odor at first, but after washing them and letting them air out, that went away. They also seem good for the price

Awesome Boards….BUT the Smell!!!!

I’d love to give these 5 stars, they are heavy, well made, smooth, deep juice grooves, just nice….but the smell! I washed them, then used vinegar on them, set them outside over night, washed them again….its better but still present. I’d love some guidance on this. I’m hoping it goes away in a few days. It’s like a very strong woodsy smell that actually made my whole kitchen smell like these boards!
Edit: Ok, here's what I did. Washed, let dry, coated and scrubbed with apple cider vinegar, set them in a high air flow area for 24 hours (I put mine outside on the patio over night), washed and scrubbed again, let dry, scrubbed with lemons and salt, let dry, washed again. Finally, there is still a slight smell if you push them against your nose but that seems to be fading as well. So, great boards if you want to go stubbornly go through the smell removal process. I don't think it's a chemical smell, I think it's processed bamboo that is shrink wrapped in air tight packaging too soon after manufacturing. Anyway, I'll move this to 4 stars....but lots of work involved here!

Obsessed with these boards!!

Economical and descent for price

Pleased with price, style, color, and the 3 sizes of these carbonized bamboo cutting boards. Based on the reviews had the expectation of the "smell", which is the oil used to seal the cutting boards. (I suspect linseed oil was used based on the lingering smell, as the off-gasing process is longer. It's also cheaper than Tung oil and food grade mineral oil.) I work with wood and various oil sealants so the smell is a non-issue. As there are natural ways to speed that process up and minimize the smell. In addition, I will be using fractionated coconut oil or food grade mineral oil to seal cutting boards on a regularly basis (monthly or more frequent). As we live in a dry climate, hard water, and frequent use.
Appreciate the other reviews which lead to our purchase and reasonable expectation of these cutting boards.
