The weight reduction does not come at the expense of the structural features that matter most for crash protection. The base includes an Anti-Rebound+ Panel that limits seat rotation during a frontal crash and a load leg that creates a third point of contact with the vehicle floor, both of which are the most documented crash energy management features in the infant car seat category.
The SmartSecure system uses a red-to-green visual indicator on the base that confirms correct installation without requiring the parent to interpret a wiggle test or estimate belt tightness by feel. Auto-retracting LATCH eliminates the step of manually storing the connectors and the adjustable base foot accommodates four angle positions to level the seat correctly across different vehicle seat contours. Dual bubble level indicators provide a second confirmation of correct alignment.
