The PS-31 Binocular Night Vision Device (BNVD) is a compact, lightweight dual-tube goggle designed to replace the legacy PS-15. Among dual-tube night vision goggles, the PS-31 stands out as one of the smallest and lightest models available. It can be equipped with high-performance, U.S.-made Gen 3 image intensifier tubes. Developed with input from U.S. operators, the PS-31 is engineered to enhance system resolution, significantly reduce head-borne weight, improve center of gravity, and provide greater operational utility. It also boosts situational awareness with a 50-degree field of view (FOV) for maximum visibility in the field.

The tubes are auto-gain capable, allowing them to automatically adjust brightness based on ground conditions. The PS-31 features independently pivoting tube housings, enabling use in either binocular or monocular configurations. Utilizing both tubes offers depth perception and makes navigating terrain, using devices, and performing tasks like opening doors easier. The monocular setup, however, allows smoother transitions between different lighting conditions, such as switching between night vision and weapon-mounted optics. Additionally, the pivoting housings let users "flatten" the goggles against the helmet when stowed, lowering the profile to increase safety and prolong equipment life.
