The Aralia Fabian Stump (Polyscias scutellaria 'Fabian') is an evergreen shrub with an upright, columnar growth habit, often cultivated to look like a miniature tree or bonsai due to its sturdy, visible trunk. This plant is native to the Southwest Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia, where it thrives in warm, tropical climates.
The leaves are round, glossy, and deep green on the surface, often displaying a striking maroon or purplish underside, adding rich color contrast to its architectural form. It is also noted in Feng Shui practices for promoting a sense of calmness and love energy.
While it can produce small white flowers in its native outdoor environment, flowering is rare when grown indoors as a houseplant.
