The Felt Breed FRD Frameset puts Felt's flagship gravel race platform in your hands before a single component is chosen. The frame and fork are built from the same super-premium 12K carbon used in the complete FRD build — the highest material specification in the Breed lineup — and the Felt Gravel One-Piece Integrated Cockpit ships with the frameset at no additional cost. That matters: the aerodynamic front end, internal cable routing, and sub-300-gram cockpit weight are already part of the package before you pick a groupset or wheelset.

At 1920g for the complete frameset kit — frame, fork, integrated headset, and cockpit — the foundation is light before anything else goes on it. The Breed was developed as a purpose-built gravel racing platform, not an adaptation of a road or endurance design, and the geometry reflects that origin. The chainstay runs a consistent 430mm across all six sizes, keeping the handling tight and the rear end responsive regardless of frame size. Head tube angle progresses from 70° in the 49, 52, and 54cm frames to 71.5° in the 61cm, with the intervening sizes stepping through 70.5° and 71°. Stack grows from 522mm in the 49cm to 631mm in the 61cm; reach spans 365mm to 405mm across the range.

Felt's development of the current Breed generation produced a 10.5% drag reduction compared to the previous version, per Felt's own testing — a figure that shaped tube profiles, head tube integration, and the connection between cockpit and frame. The result is a front end that functions as a unified aerodynamic system rather than a collection of separate parts. For the builder, this means the cockpit decisions are already made: bar widths and stem lengths are size-matched from the factory, so fit planning should account for those dimensions from the start.

FRD 12K Carbon Construction

Frame and fork are built from Felt's top-tier 12K carbon — the same material specification that defines the complete FRD build. The complete frameset kit weighs 1920g, inclusive of the integrated cockpit. That's the starting weight for a custom build on the highest-spec Breed platform available.

Felt Gravel One-Piece Integrated Cockpit Included

The Felt Gravel One-Piece Integrated Cockpit ships with the frameset — it's not a separate purchase. It consolidates handlebar, stem, and internal cable routing into a single carbon unit under 300 grams, and the dimensions are matched to frame size. The 49 and 52cm frames come with 80mm stems and 36/40cm bars; 54 and 56cm frames with 90mm stems and 38/42cm bars; 58 and 61cm frames with 100mm stems and 40/44cm bars. Riders building around specific fit numbers should verify these dimensions before purchase — swapping an integrated cockpit is a different process than replacing a standard bar and stem.

Race-Focused Geometry

The Breed's geometry was developed for modern gravel competition: a 430mm chainstay held constant across all sizes, head tube angles from 70° to 71.5° that scale steering feel as frame size grows, and a platform that prioritizes speed and handling over all-day comfort. Seat tube angles run from 75° in the 49 and 52cm to 74° in the 58 and 61cm, with BB drop ranging from 72mm to 77mm across the range. The same geometry anchors the complete FRD build.

54mm Maximum Tire Clearance

The frame accommodates tires up to 54mm wide. A builder targeting fast gravel roads might land on 38 or 40mm; someone building for rougher or looser terrain has clearance to run 50mm or beyond. The platform supports the full range of gravel racing use cases without compromise.

BSA Threaded Bottom Bracket Shell

The frame uses a standard threaded 68mm BSA bottom bracket shell. A bottom bracket is not included and must be sourced separately. The conventional threading makes compatibility straightforward — SRAM DUB BSA bottom brackets work with SRAM drivetrains, and threaded BSA options are available across all major groupset families.

Final Take

The Breed FRD Frameset is the entry point into Felt's top-tier gravel race platform for riders who want to build on their own terms — whether that means carrying over an existing drivetrain and wheels, speccing something different from the stock FRD build, or starting fresh with a blank slate. At $4,099, it includes the FRD 12K carbon frame and fork, integrated headset, and the Felt Gravel One-Piece Integrated Cockpit. The bottom bracket, groupset, wheels, seatpost, and saddle are the builder's call. Available in six sizes from 49 to 61cm in FRD 12K Matte.

The squeak might die the ball does not.
Color: Orange Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
If you want to cut to the chase YES THIS PRODUCT WORKS, if you want more details then continue reading. So for starters, we have a 75 pound Doberman whom we call "The Destroyer of All Things". Anything she can tear into (toy wise) she will dismantle in a matter of minutes. It's been very frustrating trying to find toys that will last long enough to occupy her playtime without us feeling like we may as just hand her money to shred up and throw in the garbage. I will say that my dog, however, is also a "picky" destroyer and will not simply chew and destroy and play with just any toy. I bought her a solid hard rubber ball once that weighed a ton and because it was so stiff and had zero give and was actually indestructible (to her standers) but, she played with it for a matter of 30 seconds before never touching it again. If it's too solid and indestructible she gets no satisfaction from it and won't play with it, which is also a waste of money since it's been sitting at the bottom of her toy bin ever since. So trying to find a toy that is a balance of fun for her and durable for our pockets was a hard task, until now. My husband somehow stumbled upon this ball and hopeful from all the glowing reviews (but still skeptical so we wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't work) we ordered it immediately. We have NOT been disappointed thus far and she's had it for a month!! Just like some reviews have said, the squeak did not last long, but that wasn't surprising. Our dog's favorite toys used to be the yellow tennis style kong balls and she'd have the squeak killed in a matter of seconds until it only wheezed and then she'd tear up the ball itself. Which is why we needed to find a replacement that she could shred into tiny rubber pieces all over my floor. This ball really truly was not annoying when is squeaked, until the piercing shrieking noise the Kong tennis balls made this one was pretty chill on the noise level and I didn't mind it at all while it worked. If the squeaker hadn't died I wouldn't have been driven up the wall with the noise and bonus my dog still loved it either way. But, the squeak didn't last long, maybe a few minutes at most. However, I continued and continue to monitor this ball for any other signs of defeat and have yet to find ANY. Not a tooth mark, not a nick, nothing, nada, ZILCH. This ball is soft enough that it has some give when she chomps down on it, but it's durable enough to bounce back and not snap or crack or break under pressure. The give my dog gets from chewing on it keeps her attention because I think it gives her some false sense of hope that she might still be able to destroy it. So even after a month, she's not lost interest. Also, even though the squeak has died when she chomps down on the ball it sort of makes a clicking/suctioning noise which also makes her very happy to play with it. She loves it when we toss it down the hallway because of the softer rubber it has a rather unpredictable bounce and so she never quite knows where it's going to go. Highly recommended and I cannot wait to test out other products from this brand and buy her a couple of more balls to have around the house in replacement to her old Kong balls.

Good dog product
Color: Pink Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
We’ve had the squeak balls for many years. The squeaker doesn’t last long with an aggressive chewer. Our dog squeaks the ball so much, she makes the ball split. We remove the squeaker and the ball continues to be used for a few years until it splits enough we throw them out. The ball has good bounce. We leave them outside all year and they have lasted thru snow and hot weather. The ball has been 2 of our dog’s favorite toy.

Extremely durable even for destructo-dogs!
Color: Orange Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
I got this for our chew-monster Bruce, a very large German Shepherd & (we think) Great Dane mix, after he repeatedly demonstrated his ability to utterly destroy the large Kong squeaky tennis balls within a matter of minutes. He LOVES some squeak, so he obsessively squeaks his toys until they're crushed. After some research on longer-lasting toys, I splurged on one of these, fully intending to guilt the dog forever if he destroyed this much more expensive toy. It's been 2 months, and this ball is not only still squeaking, but it isn't chewed or destroyed AT ALL, despite Bruce's best attempts! It's smaller than his other balls, and because it's a slicker texture, it slides out of his mouth more easily. However, it squeaks when it hits the ground, and he can entertain himself with it for long periods of time. Pros: - Super durable - Squeaker is molded in so it can't come out (unlike the other toys we've bought) - Bright orange is WAY easier to see in the grass than stained green/yellow tennis balls - Easy to clean Cons: - I wish it were slightly larger, because his mouth is so big. No issues with swallowing it or anything, but if they had an XL size (like other super-large sized balls) we'd go for it. Orbee, let us know if you decide to upsize! - It doesn't squeak quite as easily as other squeak balls, but Bruce figured out how to make it work. He sometimes will even hold it against the ground to squeak it faster. - It doesn't squeak as loudly as the faux tennis ball kinds, but wait...that's not a bad thing. It's still loud enough for him to enjoy, without the neighborhood rioting. Overall I can't recommend this toy enough. We feel safe letting him play with it since the squeaker can't come out, and it's paid for itself repeatedly - we were going through a 6-pack of squeaky tennis balls per week (or more!), and haven't had to buy any in the last 2 months because this ball is still in pristine condition.

Poor quality — squeaker lasts 2 minutes
Color: Blue Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
These balls used to be great quality and long lasting. Something changed about a year ago and now the quality is considerably less to include the squeaker becoming inoperable within 2 mins of play. Not sure if the raw materials or the manufacturing process changed, however the decline in quality is obvious. I do not recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that is larger than 10-15 lbs.

STROBE: Favorite Ball, durable, decent battery life
Color: Glow in the Dark Strobe Toy, Size: Medium
*Update since Outward Hound redesign: The new version doesn't seem to light up as consistently on every bounce and seems to light up in a more seizure inducing way (I'm sorry I couldn't think of a better description). The light also seems to die much faster with the new version. The inner light and batter actually popped out its encasement in one ball after about 2 months of use, only by my Golden who doesn't chew particularly forcefully on it. I did notice right away and check regularly for damage, just putting that out there as a warning. It is still by far my dog's favorite ball. Original: This is my Golden Retriever's absolute favorite ball! Particularly the strobe light up ball but she's happy with any Planet Dog ball to the point that she looks at me for the "good ball" to fetch with if i try to have her play with a ball from a different company. Pros: by far my dog's favorite ball - good bounce, and good squish factor yet durable -larger size: safe for large dogs -lights up to see at night -decent battery life -rain does not affect battery Cons: -battery is not replaceable/ rechargeable (though I'm not sure it's an option without seriously altering the design) -regular glow (once battery is dead) is not great -only lights up on a bounce and shortly after that - If your dog bites down particularly forcefully it can displace the battery which typically kills it; if submerged in water (my dog tends to place it in her water bowl when she takes a break while fetching), it is reduces battery life, both make me worry about safety The ball always out lasts the lifespan of the battery for the light, I'd say we average about 1 month per ball while the light works with about 1 hour of use almost everyday. The ball does hold up to some of my dog's friends that are super chewers including one that is a Cane Corso. I don't let them sit and work at chewing it but they definitely squeeze it in their mouths with a good bit of force. My girl is happy to play with the ball even once the battery dies but I prefer to have the light so I can find the ball when needed. The glow color does glow when placed under a flashlight for a few minutes first but I find it doesn't glow as well or as long as other company's glow toys. My dog has a tendency to drown it in her water bowl to keep it nearby or rinse off any dirt and that definitely shortens the battery life but using it in the rain doesn't seem to affect the battery life I think this being my dog's favorite has to do with the good bounce and squeeze factor this ball has. I like that it's slightly bigger than a tennis ball so I'm comfortable with large dogs playing with it. It fits in the "large" chuck it ball launcher. I actually discovered this specific ball when another dog had it and my dog kept taking it instead of her other light up ball that she had played with happily for months.
