Epipremnum pinnatum or Dragon Tail Plant is a beautiful and rare vining plant native to French Polynesia that has changing and random leaf shapes as it matures depending on the amount of light. It makes a very unusual hanging or vining plant as it can grow up or down or along a shelf! Google mature Epipremnumpinnatum if you want to see this plant in its full adult glory, its something special. 

The natural habitat of Epipremnum pinnatum is dense rainforests where it will grow up trees as a vine. The young leaves are heart-shaped, but as the plant matures they become palm-shaped and holes form in the leave like a cheese plant. The leaves are a gorgeous dark green.    

These plants aren’t hard to look after, they will thrive in the shade which makes them ideal if you have no experience of looking after houseplants.  It also means they aren’t hard to situate in your home, they will love any corner of any room really, in the sun or in the shade.

Epipremnum pinnatum care level

This plant is easy to care for, great for beginners. It will grow happily in a planter or hanging basket but if you want to see the larger glorious mature leaves (similar to Monstera deliciosa, you will need to provide support like a moss pole). 

Where should I put this plant?

Likes a shady corner, it will also enjoy a sunny spot, so it’s not a fussy plant.

How should I water this plant?

Water when the top two inches of soil are dry, make sure you don’t overwater this plant.

Should I feed this plant?

Feed once a month in spring and summer with liquid plant food. Why not try our own vegan, organic plant food?

Is this plant suitable if I have pets?

This plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
