This fuzz is my homage to the John Hornby Skewes MK2 ZONK MACHINE. Using my own tweaked version of the original Mk2 two transistor silicon Zonk circuit. Using a matched pair of super rare vintage 'New Old Stock' TO98 Sprague 2n2926 Gold Dot silicon transistors from the late 1960s

A mid gain super textured fuzz with octave overtones.

    • SWELL control (volume)
    • DRIFT control that mimics how old component values in original units may have 'drifted' up or down over the decades since they were made. This control acts a little like a fuzz and a little like a bias and give a wide range of really usable settings . Max isn't the only option here!
    • TEXTURE This is a pot to control the texture of the fuzz, it adds even more graininess - this reduces sustain and the note crackle, especially effecting the decay adding a much more 'crumbly' nature and more artefacts as the pot is turned anti clockwise.

Built using a very sort after vintage silicon transistors, and high spec new components. Built using JB and Vishay capacitors, Lumburg jacks and alpha pots.

AHHH Silicon ... I hear all the Ge nerds muttering. I can honestly say that with carefully chosen and measured components the actual differences between Si and Ge in this circuit are much more subtle than you would believe. Have a listen to the demo and see for your self...

I build these fuzz pedals in my garden workshop in Northamptonshire UK. This includes painting, drilling, and acid etching my design onto the enclosures. Constructing the entire circuit ‘Point to Point’ only using the components, there's no boards or circuit traces to dilute your signal purity. I finish the entire pedal to a standard that I think looks as good inside, as it sounds on the outside. It might be covered up but when you’re in that moment you KNOW the mojo you have under the hood.

Please be aware, these are totally hand built and so there might me some slight cosmetic variation between each pedal. The acid etching process produces a gunmetal patina on the enclosure with will vary from pedal to pedal. This is most noticeable on the sides and imparts a unique character to each pedal. Tonally, I play each one to make sure they sound as good as the first one, before signing off, no tone generator, no gadgets – just a telecaster and my ears.

Please note, all my silicon pedals have a boss style 2.1 center negative DC jack only, there is no battery snap. Silicon transistors are not sensitive to DC supply type unlike their germanium counterparts.

Thank you for reading, if you have any questions about this pedal feel free to message me.

RF interference - Many old fuzz circuits are vunerable to Radio Frequency Interference from a host of different modern electronic devices ranging from lighting to heating controllers to fridges. This is by the nature of the design and to reduce the chances of this happening would radically alter how the pedal sounds. If you are having problems with RF using one of my pedals here are a few resources that can help. RF interference is not down to a faulty pedal.

Great compact espresso machine
Color: Sterling Silver
This is a sturdy little espresso machine, not cheap plastic. I appreciated the fact that an insteuction booklet came with it, and that all of the insteuctions were clear and easy to follow, especially the first use steps. For a non-instant machine, it made a double very quickly. That looked, smelled, and tasted exactly as espresso should. All this for a very reasonable price, so I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent For Beginners!
Color: Sterling Silver
This little guy is easy to operate, and the instruction manual is well laid out (with the exception of spelling errors). I did watch a video where the individual recommended buying a sturdy tamper (which I did, the plastic one this machine comes with is well, cheap - but functional). I was excited for the hot water feature, but as the video guy explained, and I experienced, it takes a while and a bit of patience to get six ounces from this machine because it comes out in spurts. Not a deal breaker - I just heat water in the microwave while my espresso is perking, but it is an area that could be improved upon. I haven't used the frothing wand for milk since I like my espresso sans milk. The water receptacle is roomy, and I love the pressure gauge. The stainless steel shows fingerprints, so if you are OCD/ADD, this may bug you, but I'm picking my battles these days. The other thing I love is the removable base. That allows me to fit my favorite mug directly under the spouts. For me, the learning curve was gentle. And once I got the upgraded tamper, I was sipping coffee shop quality coffee w/o leaving my home.

Great scale that needs some improvements to be perfect
Color: White, Color: White
Very accurate scale, looks good in white, timer works nicely and I do like the concept of the ratio conversion. Shown in photos with 0 measurement drift over time, even without the silicone mat. To make this the best scale in the price range, I would change: - The auto timer function. Timing currently stops if you pick up the brew to swirl; you must completely restart the process if you do happen to pick it up. I would change that to only stop on user input (pressing a button). - The ratio conversion. Why offer XX.0 precision if you can only change the ratio in whole amounts? I'd suggest offering 0.1 increments, selectable with +/- buttons instead of cycling through. - The silicone mat is not well affixed and slides around. Kind of useless as-is and I just keep it off. I would wrap the whole thing around the measurement platform, similar to how the Greater Goods scale does it, to really keep it secure. It's not perfect, but for the price, it's a 4.5/5 for me. Rounding up to 5 since a 4 is considered "bad" by today's online rating standards.

IMO, a filter coffee lovers best scale option on a budget. Solid grade A choice.
Color: Black
I have two other .1mg "coffee" or food scales that I used regular for pour overs. I saw this has 4x display on real time flow rate, g/mg weight, timer, and grounds to water ratio for a solid price and purchased this after reading some reviews. One of my scales has these features, but the workflow on this scale just clicked a ton better for me. The beep isn't super loud annoying which is a major relief, as I just couldn't keep sound on on my other scale due to that trigger honestly. I tried brew mode immediately and will now only use that when making a pour over. Loved the beep alerting when I finally hit the proper ratio and I like it keeps my final info on screen after the brew for my study. I can actually practice my technique now and not have split attention as much. This is still compact, but fits a larger carafe well whereas my other scale is a better fit for the espresso machine. The display is clear and buttons have a slight tactile sensation from the print, but are still the capacitive touch based style. I tested it with weights and it is my most accurate scale, it hit the .1g accurately every time or at worst would fluctuate back and forth quickly from the true value (more than enough for me to trust it). It updates and tares from power on fairly fast, it reacts fast enough to touch to not make me pause much. My nitpicks are that the front clear matte plastic isn't quite uniform flat viewed at an off angle giving it a cheaper look, but that doesn't affect functionality at all and truth is, it really was very affordable for the feature set I feel. The second nitpick was that the scale's mat does not grip well or fit securely over prompting it to move around easily. For this I had to modify using some rubberized grip tape on the surface of scale underneath the mat itself. Now it doesn't slide from vibration and if any pressure down it doesn't slip. I could have removed it totally, but it is attractive and useful once stabilized. With that modification done, I can fully recommend this scale for filter coffee lovers at any price. Great product, hopefully lasts me a long time.
