How to Sow Field Poppy Seeds
Sow Outdoors:
- Sowing time: March to May or August to September
- Wait until the last frost has passed.
- Rake and water the soil well before sowing.
- Create 3mm deep drills and sow seeds thinly in lines.
- Cover very lightly with soil and keep moist until established.
Sow Indoors (for early colour):
- Sow into trays of compost in autumn.
- Harden off seedlings for 7 days before planting outside.
- Space plants 30cm apart when large enough to handle.
