Fuzz pedals are among the earliest guitar effects ever produced and they are more popular than ever today, with people usually defending one of two cult-like camps: Silicon or Germanium. These little components are heavily in charge of the tones you get from a fuzz circuit and the Hoof cleverly uses a hybrid design that allow just about any player to be satisfied depending on how you tweak the controls.As fans of both boutique Germanium and the tighter Silicon style, the Hoof truly offers the best of both worlds. The core tone has the smooth, nearly endless sustain of your favorite Silicon designs and the downright nasty grit you know and love from vintage Germanium pedals. We particularly love the Shift control, which lets you add or subtract midrange content. Once you've dialed in your ideal amount of fuzz and adjusted the tone control the shift knob gives you the range to go through the decades of iconic fuzz tone. From the acid drenched snarl of the 60's, the soaring lead tones of the 70's, the synth-like velcro sounds of the 80's, to the devastating 90's grunge and beyond. We hand-match our NOS Germanium transistors to exacting specifications for pedal-to-pedal consistency, taking the guesswork out of your fuzz purchase, and guaranteeing that your Hoof delivers the same smooth, natural, and harmonically-rich sustain as all your friends’ Hoofs. Controls
