Introduction to Sphagnum Moss
Sphagnum moss is a premium natural growing medium harvested from peat bogs, widely appreciated for its exceptional water retention and aeration properties. It can hold many times its weight in moisture while still allowing roots to breathe, making it ideal for sensitive plant applications. Its soft, fibrous texture and natural resistance to bacteria and fungi make it especially valuable for indoor plant care and propagation.

Use in Moss Poles
For moss poles, sphagnum moss is one of the most effective materials to support climbing plants such as pothos, monstera, and philodendrons. When used on a pole, it replicates the plant’s natural climbing surface, encouraging strong aerial root attachment and promoting larger, healthier foliage. To use, soak the moss thoroughly, squeeze out excess water so it remains damp but not dripping, and wrap it firmly around a support structure such as a PVC pipe or wooden stick. Secure it with thread, fishing line, or mesh. Keeping the pole lightly moist will significantly improve root attachment and upward growth.

Use in Propagation
In propagation, sphagnum moss provides an ideal balance of moisture and airflow, reducing the risk of rot compared to water-based methods. Lightly moisten the moss and place it in a container, then insert plant cuttings ensuring the nodes are in contact with the moss. Maintain humidity by covering the container and place it in bright, indirect light. This method encourages faster and healthier root development, and using a transparent container allows easy monitoring without disturbing the cuttings.

Key Benefits
Sphagnum moss offers several practical advantages. It is lightweight, easy to handle, and highly efficient at maintaining consistent moisture levels. Its natural antimicrobial properties help protect young roots, making it a reliable choice for both beginners and experienced growers.

Tips for Best Results
For best results, avoid over-saturating the moss, as excessive water can still lead to root issues. Always hydrate it before use and gently fluff it to restore its natural structure if it comes compressed. Over time, moss used in poles may break down and should be refreshed periodically. For a more sustainable approach, it can be blended with alternatives like coco coir while still maintaining excellent performance.

Good history of the court despite some bias
Format: Hardcover
This was a very interesting history of the court and a fairly good account of how it had changed as well as in other ways not changed over 2 centuries. In the final part regarding the current court, it is apparent that the author is not even handed regarding his analysis of the current justices and decisions, especially regarding anything involving President Trump. Overall, scholarly and well cited with much good analysis and explanation, at least through 80% or so of the book.

Even handed approach and approachable
Format: Kindle
The accolades provided by the book reviewers are accurate. This is accessible, non-partisan and shows a keen understanding of how our legal system has developed over the history of the US. As a practicing attorney, I found myself exclaiming over and again "wow, I didn't realize that!" throughout the read. I studied many of the cases he discusses in law school. I've read other books about the Supreme Court included Wm. Rhenquist's History of the Supreme Court and The Bretheren. Even though I was a serious student, I was enlightened by the author's telling of the story. Like a good history book, this is well-researched.

A must read at a good cost
Format: Hardcover
A recent release and should be read by everyone in order to understand the history on why we have a Supreme Court, why it is the most powerful in the world, its origins, why our founding fathers believed it was necessary and how it addressed significant events in our country's history; paperbound is the best and a good price for an depth analysis or such an important institution

You don't have to be a lawyer to read this
Format: Hardcover
I typically read my non-fiction books from cover to cover, but not this one. I'm using it as mainly a reference book. I thought the author might exhibit some 'left coast bias' but I was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.
